Updated EU regulations

The EU has published an updated regulation concerning temporary measures in road transport with regards to the extension or renewal of documents and licences. The following topics in the directives are subject to temporary changes:

  • initial qualification and periodic training of drivers
  • driving licences
  • tachographs in road transport
  • periodic roadworthiness tests for motor vehicles and trailers
  • access to the profession
  • access to the road haulage market
  • access to the market for coaches and buses

Holiday driving bans are being reintroduced

Following the end of the emergency state in the Czech Republic (18.5.2020), the weekend and holiday driving bans are being reintroduced for trucks and combination vehicles over 7.5 ton.

The weekend and holiday ban has also been reapplied in Austria.

Provisional tax return periods in Turkey are extended

Due to the special measures including imposed curfew in Turkey, the submission and payment periods of the provisional tax returns (for the first provisional tax period January till March) have been extended until the 28th of May 2020. The full text in Turkish can be found here.

Slovakia is repeatedly lifting the Sunday driving ban

To ensure the smoothness of road traffic during the epidemic, Slovakia has extended the Sunday driving ban exception on its territory. The ban has been lifted for three following weeks, meaning 17th, 24th and 31st May.
